Vietnam’s Limited-Service Restaurants (LSR) industry is entering a new phase of development, transitioning from rapid scale expansion toward a more disciplined focus on operational efficiency and profitability optimization. Following a strong post-pandemic rebound, growth momentum has begun to moderate, with total market revenue reaching approximately VND 22.4 trillion in 2024.
Notably, while pricing adjustments have supported revenue expansion, underlying demand dynamics remain cautious, as reflected in only modest growth in transaction volume per outlet. This signals emerging pressure on store-level productivity after a period of aggressive network expansion.
Against this backdrop, market leadership is increasingly concentrated among well-structured chain operators, whose superior unit economics continue to outperform the broader market. As the industry moves forward, sustainable growth will depend less on footprint expansion and more on operators’ ability to enhance operational efficiency, optimize cost structures, and drive incremental value per transaction.
