Enterprises entering and re-entering the market in Vietnam every 11 months continued to increase

According to the Department of Business Registration Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment, the number of enterprises entering and re-entering the market in the first 11 months of 2023 will reach 201,529 businesses, an increase of 3.5% over the same period in 2022, double 1.2 times the average level of enterprises entering and re-entering the market in the period 2018-2022 (164,525 enterprises).


Newly established businesses increased by 6% over the same period


Specifically, according to statistics from the Department of Business Registration Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment, the number of newly established enterprises in the first 11 months of 2023 is 146,044 enterprises, an increase of 6.0% over the same period last year. 2022, 1.2 times the average level for the period 2018-2022 (123,121 enterprises). The registered capital for establishment in the first 11 months of 2023 reaches VND 1,366,208 billion, down 7.9% compared to the same period in 2022.


The total registered capital added to the economy in the 11 months of 2023 is VND 3,150,569 billion (down 29.4% over the same period in 2022), including The registered capital of newly established enterprises is 1,366,208 billion VND and the increased registered capital of operating businesses reached 1,784,361 billion VND (down 40.1% over the same period in 2022). The average registered capital per enterprise in the first 11 months of 2023 will reach VND 9.4 billion, down 13.1% over the same period in 2022.


Enterprises entering and re-entering the market in Vietnam

By industry, 12/17 industries have an increase in the number of newly established businesses compared to the same period in 2022, including Education and training (up 27.6%); Wholesale; retail; car and motorbike repair (up 15.9%); Health and social assistance activities (increased by 14.9%); Employment services; tourism; leasing machinery, equipment, utensils and other support services (up 14.1%); Transportation and storage (up 9.8%); Mining (up 7.8%); Construction (up 5.7%); Information and communication (up 5.3%); Science and technology; consulting and design services; advertising and other expertise (up 5.0%); Accommodation and food services (up 3.9%); Production and distribution, electricity, water, gas (up 2.5%); Arts, entertainment and recreation (up 2.2%).


There are 5/17 industries with a decrease in the number of newly established businesses compared to the same period in 2022, including Real estate business (down 47.4%); Finance, banking, and insurance (down 18.3%); Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (down 11.5%); Other service activities (down 1.7%); Processing and manufacturing industry (down 0.2%).


Newly established enterprises are mostly small-scale (from 0 - 10 billion VND) with 132,569 enterprises (accounting for 90.8%, an increase of 7.2% over the same period in 2022). Regarding the main field of activity, newly established enterprises are mainly in the Service industry group with 109,688 enterprises, accounting for 75.1% of the total number of newly established enterprises (up 7.5% over the same period in 2022); The Industry and Construction industry group has 34,735 enterprises entering the market, accounting for 23.8% of the total number of newly established enterprises (up 2.6% over the same period in 2022); The Agriculture, forestry and fishery industry group recorded 1,621 newly established enterprises, accounting for 1.1% of the total number of newly established enterprises (down 11.5% over the same period in 2022).


Divided by region, 3/6 regions across the country have an increase in the number of registered enterprises compared to the same period in 2022: Northern Midlands and Mountains (7,198 enterprises, an increase of 12.1%); Southeast (62,256 enterprises, up 11.9%); Red River Delta (45,317 enterprises, up 7.5%). The remaining regions have a decrease in the number of registered businesses compared to the same period in 2022: Central Highlands (3,662 businesses, down 12.0%); North Central and Central Coast (17,196 enterprises, down 7.7%) and Mekong Delta (10,415 enterprises, down 3.4%). Also according to statistics, the total number of registered employees of newly established enterprises in the first 11 months of 2023 is 974,118 employees, an increase of 7.2% over the same period in 2022.


In November alone, there were 14,267 newly registered enterprises with a registered capital of VND 153,588 billion, an increase of 19.5% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 47.0% in registered capital compared to the same period in 2022. In November 2023, 5/6 regions across the country had an increase in the number of registered businesses compared to the same period in 2022, of which, the Red River Delta region (4,177 businesses, an increase of 9.3% ); Northern midlands and mountainous areas (616 enterprises, an increase of 14.7%); North Central and Central Coast (1,922 enterprises, up 21.3%); Southeast (6,272 enterprises, up 30.3%); Mekong Delta (972 enterprises, up 13.7%). The Central Highlands region alone recorded a decrease in the number of registered businesses compared to the same period in 2022 (308 businesses, down 6.7%). The number of registered employees of newly established enterprises in November 2023 was 93,692 people, an increase of 26.6% over the same period in 2022.


Businesses return to operations 1.3 times higher than the average level in the 2018-2022 period


Also according to the Department of Business Registration Management, the number of businesses returning to operation in the first 11 months of 2023 is 55,485 businesses, although a slight decrease (2.5%) compared to the same period in 2022, it is still 1 times higher. 3 times the average level for the period 2018-2022 (41,404 enterprises).


Specifically, the number of businesses returning to operation increased in 9/17 fields, specifically: Finance, banking and insurance (512 businesses, an increase of 14.8%); Healthcare and social assistance activities (276 enterprises, up 14.0%); Production and distribution, electricity, water, gas (944 enterprises, up 8.5%); Real estate business (2,106 businesses, up 5.9%); Science and technology; consulting and design services; advertising and other expertise (4,010 businesses, up 4.4%); Information and communications (1,103 enterprises, up 3.4%); Processing and manufacturing industry (6,441 enterprises, up 1.3%); Construction (7,220 enterprises, up 0.9%); Agriculture, forestry and fisheries (764 enterprises, up 0.3%).


Areas that recorded a decrease in the number of businesses returning to operations include Other service activities (1,444 businesses, down 14.0%); Arts, entertainment, and recreation (432 businesses, down 11.7%); Accommodation and food services (2,857 businesses, down 11.4%); Employment services; tourism; leasing machinery, equipment, utensils, and other support services (2,904 businesses, down 9.4%); Wholesale; retail; car and motorbike repair (20,006 businesses, down 5.2%); Education and training (1,409 enterprises, down 0.8%); Transport and storage (2,649 enterprises, down 0.7%) and Mining (408 enterprises; down 0.5%).
