On 29 October 2025, the Government issued Decision No. 2404/QĐ-TTg about the adjusted National Railway Network Master Plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050.
This adjustment significantly expands the investment scope for both existing and newly planned railway lines, including: (i) Revising the name, scale, and investment roadmap for the North–South high-speed railway; (ii) Adding international connections to China and Cambodia; (iii) Introducing new urban ring lines and major terminal stations in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City; (iv) Reviewing, upgrading, or repurposing certain existing lines; (v) Establishing a stronger integration mechanism between the railway system and key seaports, airports, and economic hubs, aiming to form a unified logistics corridor along the North–South axis. (Refer to the Annex attached to Decision No. 2404/QĐ-TTg for detailed information on the planned routes).
Below is a consolidated map illustrating: (i) Existing railway lines and newly planned routes; (ii) National-level seaports; (iii) International airports; (iv) Key industrial zones located along the North–South transport corridor.
