Shrimp exports to Australia reached a record high, totaling nearly $214 million

Shrimp exports to Australia alone reached nearly 214 million USD, up 62% over the same period in 2021, a record increase in Vietnam's largest export markets.


Since the beginning of 2022, Vietnam's shrimp exports to Australia have continuously grown strongly. As of October 15, shrimp exports to Australia reached nearly $214 million, up 62%, so compared to the same period in 2021, this is a record increase in Vietnam's largest export markets.


Australian consumers are becoming increasingly accustomed to using Vietnamese shrimp, which can be found in a range of settings including restaurants, supermarkets, and Asian stores. The popularity of Vietnamese shrimp is due to its high quality, reliable supply, and thorough processing, as well as efforts by Vietnamese enterprises, localities, and the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia to promote its commercial process.

In particular, the Economic Diplomacy Program implemented by the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia with the goal of "Building a brand and developing the Vietnamese shrimp market in Australia" has carried out many activities during the year such as coordination, supporting Vietnamese enterprises to promote shrimp at FineFood Fair; invite to try shrimp at Finefood fair.


In addition, the Program promotes Vietnamese shrimp consumption during the Christmas holiday season through advertising and drawing prizes; introducing shrimp products at the International Exhibition, along with introducing more Vietnamese shrimp exporters in 2022; The release of the shrimp market report and the promotion solution in Australia also achieved impressive results.


In 2022, Vietnam's seafood exports to Australia experienced impressive growth, with a 42.64% increase over the same period in 2021 after 11 months. This resulted in a turnover of more than $331 million.
