58/85 Vietnamese transitional renewable energy projects have been approved

As of the end of July 11, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved temporary prices for 58/85 transitional renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 3,181.41MW.


According to information from Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), as of July 11, there were 70/85 transitional renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 3,851.86MW submitted to the Company. selling electricity to negotiate electricity prices, power purchase, and sale contracts. Which, 59 projects have proposed temporary prices equal to 50% of the ceiling price of the price bracket (according to Decision No. 21/QD-BCT dated 7th, January 2023, of the Ministry of Industry and Trade).


EVN and the investor have completed price negotiation and signed off on PPA contracts with 58/59 projects; The Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved temporary prices for 58 projects with a total capacity of 3,181.41MW.



There are 14 factories/factories with a total capacity of 686.12MW that have completed COD procedures, generating commercial power on the grid. The cumulative power generation output of transitional renewable energy projects from the time of COD is about 106 million kWh; in which, the average daily power output is about 3.2 million kWh, accounting for about 0.4% of the total mobilized power output.


This is a necessary power source to contribute to minimizing the risk of power shortages that are still happening in the North today and at the same time limiting the waste of renewable energy sources of businesses that have been investing in this field.


Currently, there are also 20 projects that have been accepted by competent state management agencies for works/parts of works; 27 projects have been granted electricity operation licenses for the whole plant/part of the plant; 37 projects have had decisions to extend investment policies.


Thus, up to now, there are 15 projects with a total capacity of 882.70MW that have not been submitted for negotiation.
