SUMMARY
 
Some key points of the industry in August: The main trend of world raw materials and finished steel products decreased in the first half of August and increased again afterward, except for HRC in the US, which decreased sharply. Domestic construction steel sales prices continued to decrease in August. Steel exports were positive, while domestic consumption improved compared to the previous month but was still weak.
 
Specifically, in August exports increased 89.5% in volume over the same period. In particular, exports of DDI enterprises improved in July and August, while FDI enterprises decreased by nearly 8% compared to the previous month. Exports increased in the month thanks to improved demand from ASEAN, the US, and Taiwan. In addition, exports to Australia unexpectedly increased significantly compared to the previous month.
 
However, domestic sales in the month are still only 85% of the average in the first half of 2022, although it improved compared to the previous month.
 
Outlook:
The recovery momentum of world steel prices is difficult to stabilize in the context of weak world demand.
Vietnamese steel continues to face increasing competitive pressure from Chinese steel.
Although the export outlook is positive, the recovery may be hindered by protectionist policies in some countries, and the EU's carbon adjustment mechanism (CBMA).
