SUMMARY
 
Some key points of the industry in Oct 2023:
Prices of raw materials and finished steel products stagnated and/or decreased in the first half of October, and increased sharply again from mid-October until now.
Prices of many domestic steel brands increased by about 150-410 thousand VND/ton on November 21, 2023, since the last decrease on September 6, 2023, and have been moving sideways for more than 2 months.
The production and consumption situation of the entire industry in October continued to improve, but only at a relative level.
 
In October 2023, industry-wide production increased by 8.7% over the previous month and increased by 12.1% over the same period. Domestic consumption is positive, but weaker than last month. Exports increased by 71.5% over the same period. This output is generally positive, but it should be noted that this high increase is also partly due to the low base level of the same period.
 
Outlook: Consumption is expected to be more positive in the remaining 2 months of the year. However, businesses in the industry still face many difficulties due to weak consumption/sales and increased input cost pressure (raw material prices and electricity prices).
