SUMMARY
The main focus of the seafood industry in November 2023 is: The actual export situation in the month is less positive than expected. Shrimp and pangasius export prices remain low. Prices of pangasius and raw black tiger shrimp continued to decrease during the month due to abundant supply, while export demand remained weak. Particularly, the price of whiteleg shrimp has moved sideways because the supply has shown signs of gradually limiting in the past 2 months.
Specifically, in November 2023, the industry's export value only reached $790 million, down 6.1% compared to the previous month and equivalent to the same period last year (while the base level of the same period was quite low). Demand for seafood in most markets is relatively weak. In particular, the export value to the US, China, and ASEAN decreased significantly compared to the previous month.
In terms of products, only tuna exports are relatively positive (up 3.7% over the previous month and up 22.9% over the same period in 2022) thanks to markets such as the EU, Thailand, Israel, Mexico, South Korea, China, Philippines.
