[VI] FERTILIZER INDUSTRY REPORT - AUGUST 2023

SUMMARY

The remarkable point in July was the rapid increase in world fertilizer prices after Russia officially withdrew from the Black Sea grain initiative. Compared to the beginning of July, world urea and DAP prices have increased by 26% and 17% respectively. However, at this price, it is still 16% - 17.5% YTD lower than at the beginning of the year.

Domestic consumption and export in July both improved, so factory production was also positive. Specifically, the export volume of fertilizers reached 141 thousand tons (up 25.5% over the same period and 30.6% over the previous month). This is a relatively good level of output compared to the monthly average in the period of 2021 up to now. However, this positive increase was due to a large contribution from the order of PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer JSC (DCM). The average export price in the month was still quite low at 387.63 USD/ton, down 10% compared to the previous month (due to the late nature of the delivery date on the contract).
