[VI] FERTILIZER INDUSTRY REPORT - APRIL 2024

SUMMARY

In Q1-2024, the industry's production and export situation is generally positive. Compared to the same period, phosphate fertilizer production output increased by 22.2%, NPK increased by 23%, Urea increased by 14%, and DAP increased by 25.8%; Export output reached 500 thousand tons, an increase of 23.3%.

However, in the domestic market, domestic enterprises face difficulties in the context of a saturated market and have to compete with imported goods. Import volume in Q1 increased sharply by 83% over the same period.

Outlook: The export situation is said to remain positive thanks to benefits from export restriction measures by China and Russia. At the same time, in the Middle East region, the Egyptian Government still maintains indefinitely a 30% reduction in gas for urea production.
