SUMMARY
 
In August 2023, the cement industry did not have many significant changes. Exports were flat compared to last month, domestic sales remained weak. The business situation of cement enterprises is still difficult.
 
Specifically, cement consumption in the domestic market reached 4.48 million tons, down 4.8% over the same period. Exports reached 2.71 million tons (down 3% over the previous month and 13.5% over the same period).
 
However, the positive point is that Vietnam is increasingly increasing its ability to export finished cement products in accordance with the industry's development orientation. Cement export output has increased for the 4th consecutive month (compared to the same period in 2022).
 
Cumulatively in 8M/2023, domestic sales decreased by 10.5% over the same period. Although industry-wide consumption is expected to improve from the second half of the third quarter, thanks to public investment being aggressively promoted by the Government, and a number of real estate projects being cleared of legal obstacles and restarted. But actual consumption is not as expected.
