SUMMARY
 
Compared to the same period, Vietnam's rice exports in 5M/2023 reached 3.62 million tons, up 30.8% in volume and 41.6% in value. Particularly in May, export volume suddenly decreased compared to the previous 2 months, but still increased slightly over the same period. The main reason is that in the last 2 months, the ASEAN region suddenly boosted imports. The drop in May was also mainly due to this market, while exports to other markets (especially Africa) still increased positively.
 
Compared to the same period, Vietnam's cashew exports in 5M/2023 reached 220 thousand tons, up 8.3% in volume and 6.3% in value. Particularly in May, export volume continued to be positive for the third consecutive month (up 11.7% over the previous month and up 14.7% over the same period). Growth momentum in the month was thanks to the improvement of 2 major markets US & EU, while China (3rd largest market) continued to increase strongly.
 
Compared to the same period, pepper exports in 5M/2023 increased by 32.3% in volume but decreased by 11.6% in value. In May 2023, pepper export volume increased by 9.4% over the previous month and increased by 33.0% over the same period. The main growth driver is the positive demand from Asian markets (especially China). Demand from the US, EU, and UAE also improved during the month. However, the average export price is still at a low level, although it has improved in the last 2 months.
