SUMMARY
In general, cement consumption in Q1/2023 is still gloomy (both domestic and export). Consumption was slow, leading to the production of factories in January and February at about 75%-85% of capacity, but the industry's inventory continued to increase. Specifically, the total consumption of the whole industry (both domestic consumption and export) decreased by 10.5% compared to the previous quarter and decreased by 16.3% compared to the same period last year.
Outlook for Q2/2023, cement exports are unlikely to increase dramatically because the large Chinese market is still falling deeply compared to the same period in previous years, while the growth of other markets is still unable to compensate. Domestic demand is also unlikely to rebound strongly in Q2, despite positive signs in March.
