[VI] RUBBER INDUSTRY REPORT - MAY 2023

SUMMARY

Export volume in April 2023 was low compared to previous months but still increased compared to the same period in 2022 because according to the seasonal nature, this is usually the month with the lowest latex output of the year.

In 4M/2023, export volume decreased by 3.2% compared to the same period of 2022. The main export driving force in the first 4 months of the year was due to the Chinese, Korean, and Russian markets. While other markets fell 13%–40% over the same period in 2022. The situation of exports to new markets (South America) is quite positive, however, the proportion of these markets is still very small, and it is difficult to have much impact on the overall export picture of the industry.

The average export price in 4M/2023 is still decreasing by 23.8% compared to the same period in 2022, but the average export price in April is currently higher than in December 2022 (an average increase of 3-5% depending on the type).
