SUMMARY
 
In April 2023, rice continued to be one of the few "brightest" items of Vietnamese exports. Export volume continued to set a new record in the month. The price of Vietnamese rice in the export market continues to increase sharply and is higher than the price of Indian rice. Accumulated 4M/2023, rice exports increased by 40.7%  in volume and increased by 51.6% in value over the same period in 2022. The price of rice for export in 4M/2023 reached an average of 527 USD/ton, which also increased by 7.8% over the same period in 2022.
 
The cashew export situation in April 2023 continued to recover (both in terms of output and selling price), but the increase slowed down. Although the export situation is showing positive signals, in fact, according to export processing enterprises, cashews are facing business losses.
 
Pepper exports in 4M/2023 increased 32.1% in volume but decreased 12.4% in value over the same period last year. In April, Vietnam's pepper exports slowed down, pepper exports decreased by 26.0% compared to March, although still increased by 7.9% over the previous year due to low consumer demand. Meanwhile, the average export price in April improved compared to the previous 2 months but still fell sharply by 33.3% compared to the peak in March 2022.
