An initial analysis of Vietnam's international trade in goods for the first half of December 2022

According to recent preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's total import and export turnover for the period from December 1 to December 15, 2022, was 27.58 billion USD, a decrease of 3.8% (or 1.1 billion USD) compared to the results in the second half of November 2022.


The results achieved in the first half of December 2022 brought the total import-export value of the country by the end of December 15, 2022, to reach US$701.28 billion, up 10.5%, equivalent to an increase of nearly 66.9 billion USD in absolute terms over the same period in 2021.


The total import-export value of foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises reached US$487.45 billion, up 10.7% (equivalent to US$47.04 billion); the import-export value of domestic enterprises was USD 213.83 billion, up 10.2% (equivalent to USD 19.86 billion) over the same period in 2021.


On December 1, 2022, the trade balance of goods had a deficit of 342 million USD. From the beginning of the year to the end of December 15, 2022, the trade balance of goods had a surplus of 10.35 billion USD.


Export


During the period from December 1, 2022, Vietnam's total export goods value reached 13.62 billion USD, a decrease of 11.1% (or 1.7 billion USD) compared to the second period in November 2022.


By the end of December 15, 2022, Vietnam's total export value reached US$355.82 billion, up 12%, equivalent to an increase of US$38.2 billion over the same period in 2021.

By the end of December 15, 2022, the total export value of goods of the group of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) enterprises reached $ 262.6 billion, up 13.1%, equivalent to an increase of 30,32 billion USD over the same period last year, accounting for 73.8% of the total export value of the country.


Import


During the period from December 1, 2022, Vietnam's total imported goods value reached 13.96 billion USD, an increase of 4.5% (or 599 million USD) compared to the performance in the second half of November 2022.


Thus, by the end of December 15, 2022, the total import value of the whole country reached USD 345.47 billion, up 9.1% (equivalent to an increase of USD 28.67 billion) compared to the same period in 2021.

By the end of December 15, 2022, the total import value of this group of enterprises reached 224.85 billion USD, up 8% (equivalent to 16.72 billion USD) over the same period in 2021, accounting for 65 .1% of the total import value of the country.
