SUMMARY
VIETNAM RICE INDUSTRY – Q2 PERFORMANCE & 2H/2025 OUTLOOK
Export performance in Q2 and H1/2025
Vietnam exported 2.41 million tons of rice in Q2/2025, up +4.4% quarter-on-quarter and +1.1% year-on-year, bringing total exports in the first half of 2025 to 4.72 million tons, up +3.6% from the same period last year.
However, export turnover dropped sharply by -15.4%, reaching approximately USD 2.17 billion, due to a significant decline in average export prices (-18.34% year-on-year).
Outlook for H2/2025
Despite global oversupply and intense competition from other major rice-exporting countries, Vietnam’s rice export volume is expected to remain stable in the second half of the year, supported by:
Stable production and supply capacity,
Strong market presence in key destinations (e.g. the Philippines, Middle East, Africa),
And a shift in global buying interest toward Vietnam amid policy uncertainties in competitors like India and Thailand.
