Vietnam: CPI increases about 4.18% in first quarter

Compared to December 2022, CPI in March increased by 0.74% and over the same period last year increased by 3.35%. In the first quarter of 2023, CPI increased by 4.18% over the same period last year; core inflation increased by 5.01%.


Particularly in March 2023, the consumer price index decreased by 0.23% compared to February 2023. Among 11 main groups of consumer goods and services, 5 groups of goods increased in price compared to the previous month; 6 groups of discounted goods.

The consumer price index in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 4.18% over the same period in 2022. Accordingly, the factors that increase CPI in the first quarter of 2023 include Housing & construction materials; Restaurant & catering services; Education; Culture, entertainment & tourism; Beverage & tobacco; Apparel, footwear, and hats; Household equipment & appliances; Medicine & healthcare services; Goods & other services.
