[VI] SEAFOOD INDUSTRY REPORT - NOVEMBER 2023

SUMMARY

The main focus of the seafood industry in October 2023 is: The export situation in the month continued to improve, but was still at a low level compared to the same period. In particular, the export of fish increased well, but whiteleg shrimp (the main product of the shrimp industry) was less positive. Pangasius supply remains positive while shrimp supply is starting to decrease, especially black tiger shrimp. Shrimp export prices remain low, pangasius export prices continue to decrease.

In October 2023, exports of the entire seafood industry continued to recover during the month. Specifically, the industry's export value in the month increased by 3.4% over the previous month but still decreased by 6.8% over the same period. Compared to the previous month, exports of pangasius and tuna increased by 4%-6%, while exports of shrimp, squid & octopus decreased by another 2%-3%.

The increase was achieved during the month, thanks to positive demand from ASEAN markets, China and CPTPP (for pangasius and shrimp), Japan (tuna)...In addition, seafood enterprises in general are also exploiting several potential markets in Africa and the Middle East.
