SUMMARY
 
The supply of domestic seafood continued to increase slightly by 1.7-2.2% over the same period, depending on the type and increased by 4-7% compared to the previous month. Particularly, the shrimp harvest in May slowed down after a good increase in April. In the first 5 months of the year, the total seafood production reached 3.42 million tons, a slight increase of 1.4% compared to the same period in 2022.
 
The situation of seafood export in the month also improved compared to the previous month in most items. Notably, the export value to the Top 4 largest markets (Japan, the US, China, EU) all increased by more than 10% over the previous month, except for Australia and the UK.
 
However, compared to the same period last year, the total value of seafood exports in May was still quite low, and the export value to the US and EU in the month still decreased by 37-44% compared to the same period in 2022. Therefore, cumulatively in 5M/2023, seafood exports reached USD3.38 billion, still down 27.9% over the same period, and decreasing in most products (except for dried fish and canned fish with positive growth).
