SUMMARY
 
The results of seafood exports in February remained low in most items and did not show any significant improvement. Even pangasius, tuna, and shrimp exports decreased by 9%-21% over the same period in 2022. Generally, in 2M/2023, seafood exports reached $1.06 billion, down 29.1% over the same period in 2022. Of which, the two main products, pangasius, and shrimp, decreased by 38-40% compared to the same period in 2022.
 
In terms of markets, Vietnam's seafood exports to Asian markets tend to improve, while exports to the US, EU, and Canada are still difficult.
 
Besides the problem of weak demand in export markets, the pressure on selling price & profit margin is also a challenge for seafood exporters in general. In the context of export prices of many types of seafood (such as shrimp, pangasius) are still in a downward trend from 2H-2022, but the price of raw materials is still high and/or increasing. While according to recent information, a company has announced that it will continue to increase the price of aqua feed by 300 VND/kg from the beginning of April 2023.
