SUMMARY
 
Following the gloomy series from the end of Q2, in October 2022 steel production continued to be "moderate", due to weak consumption (both domestic and export) and high inventories. Specifically, "domestic steel sales in October 2022 decreased by 15.8% compared to the same period last month" and decreased by 20.8% compared to the same period in 2021. This is also the lowest monthly sales since the beginning of the year (only after sales in July 2022). Export volume in the month also reached only 532 thousand tons, continuing to decrease by 57% compared to the same period in 2021.
 
STEEL PRICE MOVEMENT:
As of the end of October, in general, the prices of iron ore and HRC in China and the US were quite similar, still in a downtrend from the end of Q1 to the beginning of Q2, although there were times of recovery in China, but within very narrow.
