SUMMARY
 
In 2021, the total installed capacity of electricity sources nationwide will continue to increase by 10.6% (reaching 76,620 MW). Accordingly, Vietnam currently ranks first in the ASEAN region in terms of power capacity. In particular, the proportion of renewable energy sources in Vietnam has continuously increased rapidly in the past 4 years (from 7% at the end of 2018 to 27% at the end of 2021).
 
Total electricity mobilization is estimated at 255.37 billion kWh (up 3.9% year-on-year, lower than CAGR of 7.9%/year in the period 2017-2020) due to the 4th COVID-19 outbreak, which sharply reduced demand electricity in Q3, when many manufacturing plants and service facilities had to close/reduce operating capacity.
